Project description

The long-term goal of this project is to develop an integrated model of normal and disordered processes through empirical analyses of action and perception in speech and how they are related. The boundary between normal and disordered processes of speech communication will be investigated from three perspectives: (i) new steps towards modelling the architecture of motor plans for normal and disordered articulation including prosody and manual gesturing (ii) new ways of understanding how speech perception contributes to fluency and stability in normal and disordered speech and (iii) the development of new tools for the analysis, classification, and diagnosis of speech disorders through the incorporation of state-of-the-art techniques from speech technology.
